From Neil Ferstand, Executive Director, CT:
I have attached directions describing how you can download state insurance company Annual Statements directly from the NAIC website without having to secure the information from your Department of Insurance.
I suggest you visit the NAIC site and sign up for the FREE REGISTRATION before you attempt to download any information. You'll need to be registered first.
So far, the Annual Statements I've downloaded have been free - however - there is state data available for which NAIC does charge.
Note: When you go through the process of downloading the data - you will be faced with a choice. There will be two .pdf files from which to choose. For the most part, all you'll most likely need is the "Selected Pages of the Annual Statement" this information is probably all an actuary will need to complete a report about a companies premium income and loss expense, profit, reserves, etc..

Bad Faith Insurance
If you haven't discovered this site yet  - it might be well worth your while to take a cruise around Bad Faith Insurance and experience what the site has to offer. You can easily spend a few hours. I'm told it is perhaps the only site like it on the web - experiencing 1000's of hits a week from consumers, insurance companies, regulators to state legislators.

Our mission is to educate the public and work for reforms to keep politics and special interests out of the courtroom—so judges can do their job protecting the Constitution, individual rights and the rule of law.

The site includes links to each states anti-SLAPP laws and “identifies states in which legislation has been proposed or is in progress in the legislature, those in which anti-SLAPP legislation is advocated, and those states without an anti-SLAPP statute but in which judicial doctrine has expressly addressed.”  It also includes SLAPPs fact sheets, first amendment considerations, recent news on the topic, etc.  Just please keep in mind that since it’s a secondary source I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy. We are proud and excited to announce the launch of our new blog, The Pop Tort. You can find it here: http://thepoptort.comIts primary contributors are the consumer advocates from the staff of the Center for Justice & Democracy.

The Alliance for Justice has a feature on its website helping non-profits of all stripes figure out the complicated intermingling of state PAC law, 501©(whatever) law and other factors.  They have special reports for several states, including California, not yet for Pa.  You need to register, but it’s free for non-profits. The link is http://www.afj.org/for-nonprofits-foundations/state-resources/index.jsp
